Caramel Apples

It just doesn't feel like Halloween unless there are caramel apples nearby. Make these with the family put on a spooky movie and enjoy.

Let's get started.

Caramel Apples
1 lb. Brown Sugar
2 Sticks Unsalted Butter, room temperature
14 Oz. Sweetened Condensed Milk
2/3 Cup Dark Corn Syrup
1/3 Cup Pure Maple Syrup
1 1/2 Tsp. Vanilla Extract
1 Tsp. Molasses
1/4 Tsp. Kosher Salt
12 Apples
12 Chopsticks

Toppings: chopped nuts, shaved coconut, mini m&ms, mini chocolate chips, toffee, crushed graham crackers, crushed oreo's. TBH the possibilities are endless.

Additional decorations: melted milk, white chocolate, or candy melts.

In a quart saucepan, add in the brown sugar, butter, sweetened condensed milk, corn syrup, maple syrup, vanilla extract, molasses, and salt. Stir with a wooden spatula over medium-low heat for about 15 minutes.

Attach a clip on candy thermometer to the side of the pan. Increase the heat to medium-high and cook until thermometer registers 236 degrees Fahrenheit. Remove from heat and allow to cool without stirring for 20 minutes.

Meanwhile, line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper and spray with nonstick spray. Insert chopsticks into the apples. Set up toppings.

Dip the apples into the cooled caramel and allow excess to drip back into the pot. Turn the apple upside down to allow the caramel to set around the apple. Place onto the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with remaining apples.

Allow the caramel to set for 15 minutes. Then one apple at a time lift and press pooled caramel around each apple.

Press toppings firmly onto each apple. Or drizzle with melted chocolate.

Chill for 45-60 minutes.

Serve and enjoy.
