Valentine's Day 2023

Happy Valentines Day!

Let's get started.

Herb and Mustard Sirloin 
2 Sirloin Steaks (1/2 inch thick)
2 Tbsp. Spicy Mustard
2 Tsp. Herbs de Provence
1 Tsp. Kosher Salt
1 Tsp. Freshly Ground Black Pepper
1 Tbsp. Worcestershire Sauce
1 Tsp. Garlic Powder
1 Tsp. Onion Powder
2 Tbsp. Butter + more for serving
1 Tbsp. Olive Oil 

Pierce both sides of the steaks with a fork. Set aside.

In a small bowl, combine the mustard, Herbs de Provence, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce, and mix until well combined. Rub this mixture on both sides of the steaks. Allow to marinate overnight or for 4 hours minimum.

Take the steak out of the refrigerator 30 minutes prior to cooking.

Heat a large cast-iron skillet over medium high heat. Add in the olive oil and butter. Sear steaks for 5 minutes on each side for medium rare. Remove from steaks from pan top each steak with 1 Tbsp. of butter each and all to rest for 5 minutes. 

Serve and enjoy.



Thumbprint Cookies
1 Cup Butter, softened
1 1/2 Cups Powdered Sugar
2 Eggs
1 Tbsp. Vanilla Extract
1 Tsp. Kosher Salt
2 1/2 Cups All Purpose Flour
Jam of Choice

Pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.

In a large bowl, add in the butter and powdered sugar. Using a electric mixer, whisk until fluffy and well combined, about 3 minutes.

Add in the eggs and vanilla, mix until well combined. Add in the flour and salt, mix until just combined. 

Using a cookie scoop, scoop out the dough and roll into a ball. Place on prepared baking sheet. Using the back of a spoon or one of your smallest fingers, gently press down to form a heart in the center of the cookie. 

Fill the heart with a bit of jam.

Bake cookies for 8-10 minutes. Remove from the oven and allow to cool of the baking sheet.

Serve and enjoy.
