Arroz Con Leche

Growing up in my house my parents always made Arroz con leche, which translates to rice with milk. I do admit it does sound strange once translated to English. However, once you try it I guarantee you will also grow a fondness to it.

The simplicity of this recipe is what I like the most. Also the versatility of it. It can be used as a breakfast porridge of sorts, dessert, or a snack.

Let's get started.

Arroz Con Leche Printable Recipe
1 1/2 Cups Long Grain Rice, rinsed thoroughly
3 Cups Water
1 Cinnamon Stick
1 12. Oz. Can Evaporated Milk
1 14. Oz. Can Sweetened Condensed Milk
1 Cup Whole Milk
1/4 Tsp. Salt
1 Tsp. Vanilla Extract
Ground Cinnamon

In a medium pot add in the washed rice, water, cinnamon stick, salt, cover and bring to a simmer.

Once all of the rice has absorbed the water, it should be fully cooked through.

Fluff it out with a fork, discard the cinnamon stick, and add in the whole milk, evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, vanilla extract, and mix until fully combined. Let simmer for an additional 5-8 minutes or until thick. Making sure to stir constantly.

Remove pan from heat and let cool. Top with a dusting of ground cinnamon.

Serve and enjoy.
