Wing Wednesday - Yes it's a thing

Wednesdays are for Wings

This Wednesday we enjoyed some dry rubbed wings with a sticky, spicy, sweet glaze. It was nothing short of amazing.

I am in the process of perfecting a BBQ sauce recipe. However, the dry rub on these is perfect as is. Works great on any part of the chicken you have available.

Chicken Wing Dry Rub - Printable Recipe

2 lbs. Chicken Wings
1 tablespoon ancho chili powder
1 tablespoon smoked sweet paprika
2 teaspoons garlic powder
2 teaspoons onion powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon celery salt
1 1/2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (depending on your heat preference use more or less to your liking)

I did fry my wings this time. Per the request of my niece as she wanted a "Wing Stop" feel to them. So they went into a vat full of heated oil and came out 15 minutes later crispy, crunchy, and perfectly cooked.

However, they work really well when they are baked.

To bake all you have to do is heat your oven to 350. Put your wings on a wire rack on top of a cookie sheet to get even heat circulation, and bake for 25 minutes. Increase the oven temperature to 475 and bake your wings for an additional 20-30 minutes flipping them occasionally until they are golden brown all over.

Perfect for any game day gathering or whenever the mood strikes.
